The X-Fi XtremeMusic is simply the X-Fi card all by its lonesome, and as such it carries the lowest MSRP of $129.99.
The X-Fi line of Sound Blaster cards currently ships in four flavors. Any piece of audio that runs through the card, be it an mp3, wma, wav, DVD audio, game audio, whatever is it, will be processed with whatever enhancements (like the 24-bit Crystalizer) that you choose to enable, and all of it sounds stunning. The Sound Blaster X-Fi line of cards doesn't work solely with mp3s, either. And yes, mp3 audio can sound at least as good as it does coming straight off the CD. The truth of the matter is that the X-Fi processor's 24-bit Crystalizer, along with its all-around exceptional DAC and other "gizmos" like CMSS 3D, sounds absolutely phenomenal. This enhancement enables virtually all MP3 music to sound even better than it did on the original CDs." The idea of Creative claiming it could rebuild compressed audio not only back to the original CD quality, but better than that and up to the original recorded quality sounded like the biggest load of PR marketing BS we'd ever heard.

The press release contained such claims as "The Creative X-Fi Xtreme Fidelity audio processor drives new applications that can enhance MP3s by bringing them back to 24-bit quality, and allows the user to upgrade the music to multi-channel surround sound.
When Creative first issued the press release announcing its X-Fi (Xtreme Fidelity) audio processor, many folks were left shaking their heads in total disbelief.
